April 16, 2011 - 2 Girls in Tokyo
Hot Points from the 1st 3 days of our trip.
Narita Airport: Pickup Handy Guide at Tourist Information Center at baggage claim level. Best map so far. Same level pickup 1 or 2 day open passes for tokyo metro at Entertainment booth. Narita Express tickets and gate 1 floor below. Be cautious because Express trains seem to not run in the afternoon. Have to take the non-express or bus.
Shinjuku Gyoen best park I've seen so far. Seiji Togo Memorial Art Museum was closed. Normally it would have been open on a Thursday afternoon.
Tsukiji Fish Market area had signs stating tourist not to visit. Hamaririkyu Garden wasn't that pretty. Everything looked like weeds after going to Shinjuku Gyoen. But it was peaceful and you could catch the water cruise from INSIDE the park. Pay park admission then catch the boat. Separate ticket counter for boat.
In Asakusa: heading from the water boat to the Kaminarion Gate, stop at the green ice cream cone and try some Cherry Blossom ice cream, it's delicious.
Ueno Park: blossom have mostly fallen. The National Museum of Western Art had reduced hours. Closed at 4:30, last entry probably at 4pm. So we could not get in. :( Normally open until 6pm.
