November 17, 2015 - Fuboukaku of Aone hot spring
November 17 - 18, 2015 I went to Fuboukaku.
I had 2 consecutive days off during weekday,
So I booked a hot spring inn (Japanese style inn with a hot spring).
The name of the hot spring is "Aone"= Βͺ, and the name of the inn is "Fuboukaku"= sYt.
Why did I book during weekday?
Because I could take 4 baths to only myself.
There are 6 baths in Fuboukaku.
In other words if I booked it during weekend I needed to share with other guests.
Anyway I could take 4 bathtubs to myself !
Fuboukaku has been in service for 500 years since the day it was founded.
Fuboukaku was intended to be "palace of hot water"
(the place where the feudal lord takes baths)
for the Sendai feudal lords of Date clan in 1612.
It was the hot spring which common people could not visit back then.
Now we don't need to have a special permission to go there.
Masamune Date was the most famous lord in the Date clan and he is still very popular nowadays.
He was born in 1567 and he lived for 69 years.
He was very stylish.
In Japanese we say "date" for a dandy, and the origin of that word is Masamune's family name.
The origin of this story is not certain,
Masamune named the palace of hot water "Fuboukaku".
The meaning of "Fubou" is "unforgettable",
and "-kaku" means pavilion which was where nobles lived or a two floor palace.
Even now we can gaze at his country Sendai plain from Fuboukaku.
And Fuboukaku is one that was chosen by the Keeping Association of secret hot springs of Japan.
Secret means rare, because people did not have a chance to visit there for a long time.
But it is still difficult to visit for many people, because they are inconvenient to get to.
How to go to Fuboukaku except driving car ?
Take the Miyagi Kotsu Highway Bus for Toogatta Onsen (= c·ς) from the bus stop in front of Sendai Station.
And alight at Miyagi Zao Royal Hotel of the terminal stop.
Then ask to come to pick.
It's not for day trip visitors.
Only lodging guests are available.

The entrance of "Shinyu"(=V).
Famous iterati had been visited and the same tub have used for about 450 years.
This is "Shinyu"(=V).
Famous literati were also took this bath.
This is "Kurayu"(= ).
And is made of precious Aomori Hinoki.
Size of the bathtub is about four tatami mats.
This is "O-yu"(=ε).
The image is not clear but it is huge like a pool.
The entrance of "Inosukenoyu"(=εVγΜ).
hInosukenoyuh is a half open-air bath.
It is made by digging a hole in one rock.
It is a very small but is very comfortable.
The entrance information of "Gotenyu"(=δa).
This bathtub is reproduced that for the lord.
This is certainly "palace of hot spring" (=δa) of 500 years ago .
Massage chairs were in the room for rest.
