Travel Reports by Imperfect view profile of Imperfect previous post index   April 3, 2011 - Back in Osaka So we are back in Osaka now and it is still loads of fun! Been down to Hiroshima and then a week in Kyoto for sightseeing. I'm kinda glad now that we changed plans at the last minute to avoid Tokyo for this trip and spend it down here in the south, there is SO much to see!!!!! The only differences I can make out from normal is a) there are not as many foreign tourists around (which is sad) and b) there are actually a few people down here (we have met probably about a dozen) leaving Tokyo for one reason or another for a holiday. I guess they are taking the opportunity to rest and relax at the moment. Other than those two things it has been fantastic!!! Everything is open, everyone is happy to see us! We got so many smiles and hello's at Tennoji Zoo in Osaka yesterday we felt like superstars! I only counted about 8 other foreigners in there as well as us. I think they were very happy to see us. Although it was still packed with the Japanese! I'm not sure if its normal or because of the disaster but we are noticing alot of tourism here comes from the Japanese themselves. One good thing we have seen is we went to the supermarket to pic up some 2L waters and we were only allowed one each. I guess they are sending alot up to the disaster area and trying to spread it out down here. Even that was so problem because at 8:00 at night the shelves were still full with water! We only have 6 days left now in Japan. Heading to Kinosaki for a few days and then back here in Osaka. We are so glad we could enjoy ourselves this much! And we will def be planning our Tokyo trip for next year (or maybe the one after) to see Tokyo at its fullest and brightest and busiest. But to still help tourism and see all the sights is fantastic!
