November 9, 2013 - Saturday walking through Tokyo / Shibuya Nightlife

Saturday morning started quiet in Akihabara. Without any real goal, I just wandered through the Electric Town of Tokyo. It's like you imagine: Electronic and comic stores everywhere, maid cafs on the corner, and lots of geeks on the street. The red SEGA game arcades are the eyecatcher in this district, and they are everywhere! Of course, there are also tons of Pachinko "casinos". I visited a shopping center here and there, but I couldn't really decide on what to buy, so I just let it be.

My next stop was the famous district of Shibuya. It was noon time, so I was looking for something to eat. Of course, I could nod decide on which restaurant to go to. There are just so many, and you can literally eat everything there. The crowd during the lunch break was enormous, but nothing compared to what I saw during the evening/night... In the end, I decided for a Ramen restaurant, where I just ordered something without understanding anything on the Japanese menu card. Turned out it was a noodle soupt with meat and eggs, and it was delicous!

After my lunch, I decided to go to the Ueno Zoo, which was near my hotel. Quite big zoo, lots of animal and nicely located in a park. I could hardly imagine any green spot in Tokyo, but to my surprise, there are many parks located within the city, and Ueno Park was just one of them. It was the first time I saw a Panda in real life, which was without THE attraction of the zoo.

Still jet-lagged, I had to go back to my hotel for a little nap, before I decided to go to Shibuy again - this time, to enjoy the nightlife. And oh boy, I didn't regret this decision! There are so many bars, and each one of them was packed! I made friends with some nice Americans, who are living in Japan, and we had a great evening with many drinks.

Quite drunk I made it to the last train just after midnight, which was packed (I mean, really packed!), because everybody wanted to go home on time.
