April 3, 2011 - first trip to Tokyo
Hey guys
Flew out from London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita on the 26th of March 2011 apart from the change from Haneda to Narita and the stop over for the BA crew change in Seoul flight was okay arrived early in the morning at Narita and got the train into the centre of Tokyo.
I have to admit despite the trouble that is going on with the Fukishima plant was worried about going at first, But my trip was not afected in anyway apart from the Ueno zoo being closed I was able to go around Tokyo with no problems.
Visited Ueno Park for the cherry blossoms, Shibuya and Harajuku for the fashion and due to a recommendation tthat I should go and visit the area.....Didnt really visit any museums so dont know if there was any closures. With reading the paper yesterday Ueno zoo reopened on friday.
Radiation levels were constantly lowering slightly with Tokyo being about 0.011 or there abouts.
Everyone in Tokyo from the hotel to the shops and restaurants were so welcoming and friendly as well.
Being my first time visiting Japan I hope to come again and visit more of Japan not just Tokyo. Loved viewing the cherry blossoms and the japanese culture as a whole. Would love to visit Osaka and Kyoto as well as Yokohama
If you are thinking about cancelling your trip to Tokyo I would think again I didnt experience any problems apart from the flight changes/stopping over for a couple of hours and the zoo being closed.. Can:t wait to visit again.
