Travel Reports by winterjade view profile of winterjade In Japan for 3 weeks previous post index   April 9, 2011 - Kyoto: Nijo Castle at Night (4/7/2011) We didn't manage to get to Nijo by day, unfortunately, but were lucky to be able to visit at night - perhaps a limited seasonal practice for Hanami season...?   Anyhow, having seen lots of cherry blossoms during the day at Maruyama Park and all throughout Kyoto, we were glad to have had the opportunity to view these amazing flowers at night.  And...as the daytime temperatures had been somewhat too warm for me, I welcomed the cool of the evening as a great time for strolling Nijo grounds. Japan's been wonderful so far. We're on our 2nd week of a total of 3 weeks here; starting out in Osaka, then Takayama, Shirakawa-Go and Kanazawa.  Then Kyoto and now we're in Beppu.  We've had no problems whatsoever, and everyone's been so friendly, kind and patient to 2 foreigners from the U.S.  Our plans for Tokyo from the 10th-15th are still on.  I'll update as often as I'm able.  previous post index   List of Posts: 2011/04/09 - Kyoto: Nijo Castle at Night (4/7/2011) 2011/04/08 - Osaka 26-30 March
