Expo in Aichi

By Ricarda

I am German and I visited the Expo in Aichi in August together with my Finish penfriend. I knew the last Expo which has been in Germany five years before, but the Expo in Japan was much cooler. That was because we both attracted attention (we didn't look Japanese like most people) and everybody asked us where we were from.

When I told people that I was from Germany , most people told me that they have been in Germany before, have friends there and/or told me their few German words. That was quite fun. I got a Moroccan vase as a present and exchanged many, many email addresses. Before I went to Expo I really hoped to make friends from all over the world and I think I reached that aim.

It was a pity that I couldn't see the German pavillon because you had to wait 3 hours to enter it. I didn't have that time!

Another subject: before you could enter Expo you had to drink up all your drinks and put it in cups, but in any case throw away your bottles. That was due to security measures. But it was strange that I could keep my pair of scissors, which the security woman must have seen when she opened my bag , because that pair of scissors was at the top of all my stuff and couln't be ignored.

Anyway, I really loved Expo, although my legs hurt in the evening, but that only meant that I saw a lot. It was a pity that I didn't have more time to go there a second or even third day, because I had to move on to Tokyo.
