how to get from Hiroshima to Naoshima?

we are first time in japan - want to travel between Hiroshima (1 night) / Naoshima (1 night)/ maybe Himeji (1 night?) and Kinosaki (1 night).
is there a preferred route between Hiroshima and Naoshima? how long should it take?

I agree with Uji. That's how I went there.
If you are interested in visiting Shikoku, especially Takamatsu City, then you could travel from Hiroshima over Okayama to Takamatsu and then take the ferry from there to Naoshima (or vice versa).

Leave Hiroshima 06.50 h by Kodama to Okayama, arrive 08.05 h, change to JR Marine liner at 08.24 h. Arrive Chayamachi 08.38 change to JR Uno line at 08.40 h ( same platform ) arrive Uno 09.10 h. Cross the street between station and ferry and take the 09.22 h ferry to Naoshima. All trains JR covered by JR Rail Pass, but not ferry.
