from Takayama to Matsumoto to Hakone

We are planing to travel atthe end of March from Takayama to Matsumoto for 1 night(6 houres by train). We are not sure if it's posible to travel around as to Kamikochi at this season. If not is it worth to come just to see the castle and some other spots or to travel direct to Hakone for 2 nights?

at the end of March from Takayama to Matsumoto for 1 night(6 hours by train).

Logically you can travel from Takayama Station to Matsumoto Station in about 5 hours.
