Travel time for Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route 2013/3/3 10:11
Travelling from Oaska to Toyama and returning via Matsumoto and Nagoya to Osaka, how long should I allow for the Alpine route. Can it easily be travelled in 1-2 days, or should I allow longer?

The route itself (from Toyama to Shinano-Omachi) can easily be traveled within a single day, especially in winter when activities (such as hiking) along the route are limited to due snow. On busy days, you should allocate extra time for eventual waiting times at bottlenecks.

Most of the transfer stations along the way have little to see besides an observation deck. So, many people just take a quick look before boarding the next bus/ropeway/cablecar. Only at Murodo, there is a wider array of activities (the snow wall in winter, hiking in summer). Murodo also has the largest range of food options.
