I'm planning to travel from osaka to tokyo and I was looking at the cost for the hikari and nozomi. Iknow it's about 20mins apart. But I noticed the cost was the same. I thought Nozomi would be more expensive.
Is Hikari and nozomi the same ticket cost?

The cost is the same if travelling by unreserved seat. If you use a reserved seat the Nozomi is an additional 300 yen more expensive.

[Shin-Osaka -- Tokyo by Shinkansen (Ordinary-Class car)] Base fare : 8510 yen. Shinkansen charge : 4730 yen (minimum); : + 310 to 710 yen (when your seat is reserved; varying by seasons and days); : + 300 yen (when your reserved seat is on a Nozomi train). Even if you do not use a seat, a Shinkansen charge is required.
