Travel from Kyoto to Naoshima to Osaka

We will be travelling from Kyoto to Naoshima,staying 1 night and then going to Osaka for 1 night before leaving very early in am from international airport in Osaka
We want the most time in Naoshima. Any suggestions re timing of train travel
Also should we stay at airport hotel in Osaka,how far from the station we arrive at in Osaka and how best to get there?

It is very easy to reach Naoshima from Kyoto. You can take the Shinkansen to Okayama and then transfer to the Uno Line. The port is at Uno Station (the terminus). The earliest I have found for arrival at Uno Port from Kyoto is 8:24am. (Leaving Kyoto at 5:44am on the Kyoto Line to Shin-Osaka. From there, you can take the 6:25am Shinkansen to Okayama. From Okayama, transfer to the Uno Line's 7:40am train to Uno.) You can check train times yourself here: http://www.hyperdia.com/en/Depending on when you will be going, the ferry schedule may change. This summer is the Setouchi Art Festival, so there may be more ferries.
