Onsens around Hakata 2013/3/19 13:45
Hello!

I'll be staying 1 night at Hakata, International Hostel Khaosan Fukuoka.

May i ask where is the nearest hot spring from JR Hakata Station?

Where would be the next popular natural onsen from Hakata?

If not, public bath house shouldnt be any far away from JR Hakata station right?

I think the popular Onsen is "Manyo no yu", but it is somewhat expensive. You need to pay 1,890 Yen.
But there is free shuttle bus from JR Hakata Station every hour.

Next popular is "Namiha no yu".
Weekday is 700 yen, Sat and holiday are 800 Yen.
I recommend you will ride Nishitetsu bus from before JR Hakata St. You can go without a change.

@Kendy

Hello, thank you for your kind reply.

Namiha no yu, seems to be a better choice. From the website, i have to take bus number 99.

So i board the nishitetsu bus at JR HAKATA, OR, Hakata Kotsu Center? Are they both located at the same place?

Hi honeybooboo.
They are different place.
You have to take the bus on stop "Hakata Eki Center Bldg Mae". It's place is this URL(Google Map).

A few more places you can try:

There is Shiroyama no Yu, located just on the west side of Yakuin Station (1-1-1 Yakuin, Chuo-ku, tel 092-781-2211, open
10:30AM-8:00PM) for 1800 yen. That would be the closest. For a group of others there is an association of them in Minami-ku, close to Ijiri Stn on the Nishitetsu Line. See:

But if you want a hot spring resort town, there is also one not far away - just 12 minutes by JR express train from Hakata to Futsukaichi Stn. It's not the most famous in Kyushu but it's one of the oldest, going back over 1300 years. See:

Thank you for your suggestion @Ken

However, they seem too far. Nami no yu seems to be the better one.

Just as an update, I found that the Shiroyama onsen actually closed down.
There are some other you can try though at:
