Should I buy a bus pass? 2013/3/25 11:06
I'm trying to decide if I should buy a Willer Express bus pass. What my plan is in two weeks I'll be flying in to Tokyo, and staying there for about 4-5 days. After this I have to get to the Kyushu region, Fukuoka, by bus. In all honestly the simplest way to do it would be to take a bus that would bring me right from Tokyo to Fukouka, which this Nishitetsu bus can do: http://www.nishitetsu.co.jp/bus/highway/gb/guide/hakata.html
However the fare it says is 15000 yen! Compared to the Willer Express bus pass, it seems like a rip off. However the problem with the Willer Express bus pass is that for one, there are no buses that go directly from Tokyo to Fukuoka. In order to get there I would have to stop, stay at a place for like a day, and then go on to Fukuoka. I wouldn't have a problem with this, however I'm worried that for one when I stop at one of these places its going to be a total nightmare carrying my luggage around with me. In addition to this it would be nice to actually wash up before I get on that last bus. Seriously... Going on a bus all night, and then exploring a city all day, and then going on a bus again all night again without a shower. xD

Bringing up the question: Is there any place I can put my luggage say in (as an example) Osaka if I stopped there? What about any places to actually clean yourself up without having to rent a hotel room? (shower or something)

It depends on the amount of luggage, basically. Major JR stations have luggage lockers that are juuuust about too small for a "medium" suitcase. But if you are backpacking, or your case is a little on the smaller side, you can use them without any trouble at all.

Is there a reason you HAVE to get to Fukuoka by bus? It has a JR train station, and you can get from Tokyo to Fukuoka in about 6 if you have a JR Pass (because you cannot use Nozomi trains with a JR Pass), or 5 hours and 22,000 yen if you don't.

Haha yeah I'm kinda on a budget plan here. Bus is like super duper cheap. I am packing lighter. Basically I'll have a rather small suit case, and a garment bag with me.

You could take a bus from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka, do some sightseeing, shower at a sento or onsen, and take an overnight bus to Fukuoka.

A website on sento in Kyoto:

An onsen complex in Osaka:

You could also have your luggage delivered:

However, if you don't have definite plans in Tokyo and are not in a hurry, why not spend some more time in Kyoto/Osaka area instead of just transfering buses.

Hi!
Have you looked at the prices of plane tickets?
Jetcost offers some flights outward / return for 6000 yen in two hours by plane.!
Departure from Narita; Arrival at Fukuoka
You can study the sending price ok your large suitcases by a carrier service ...
There is nothing comparable with the night bus ... isn't it?
