Which way to Himeji is better, from Osaka or from Kyoto? How and the cost, please.

Himeji is closer to Osaka.
From Osaka, take the JR Special Rapid Trains which depart about once every 15 minutes. It takes about an hour and costs 1450 yen (covered by JR pass).
