Travel to Sendai region

I will be traveling to Sendai region in July 2013. I am interested in seeing the tsunami effected region. Should I stay in Sendai or elsewhere? Can you recommend some traditional Japanese Inns in the area. Thank-you

You could travel to Ishinomaki ( http://zoomingjapan.com/travel/ishinomaki-tsunami-devastation/ ) and stay there. Sendai is a bit far away from there, but it's possible to travel to Ishinomaki for just a day trip.

Central Sendai was not hit by the tsunami. I also recommend Ishinomaki as one of the easiest destinations to access:
