Hi,
I'm planning a winter trip to Japan and was initially planning to travel from Kyoto to Tokyo on Jan 1st (I had read elsewhere on the forum that this wouldn't be as bad as some of the other days for travel).
However, I'd really like to go via Lake Kawaguchiko for 1 night as this fits in better with our itinerary. Would travelling from Kyoto to Kawaguchiko in the morning of Jan 1st and then onto Tokyo in the late afternoon/evening of Jan 2nd (bus to Shinjuku) be a bad idea at this busy time of year?

Jan 1st-3rd is very special holidays for Japanese, so it can be very crowded, but travel during this days will bring you a nice experience.
