Narita Airport to Tsuchiura, Ibaraki

I'll be traveling to Japan on August 1st. I went to Japan in March of this year, but I went with a school group. So I'm a little confused on using transportation on my own. Could you help find the easiest way for traveling from Narita International Airport to Tsuchiura, Ibaraki such as how and where to purchase train tickets?

You can use the HyperDia website to look up train routes, schedules, and fares, but as taking the train will involve a number of transfers en route, the direct bus service will probably be a lot more convenient.
