Rental car with English GPS in Kyushu

We will be travelling thru Japan for 3 weeks arriving in Tokyo on July 17. Will need a rental car with English GPS system in Fukuoka on July 25 for 9 days. We are planning to make the car rental reservation thru the concierge of our hotel in Tokyo. However, we are wondering if there are enough rental cars with English GPS available at short notice or if we need to make our reservations already now ahead of time.

There are a few models of car navigation systems (we don't call it GPS) with which English navigation and map are installed. But you can't tell which car has it. It should be Toyota.

You call your hotel now and ask them to check if they can find it. Reservation in advance is a must.

Thanks, Jay Kay, good advice. Also found useful info on the Japan-Guide website. We booked a Nissan with GPS maps in Japanese and directions spoken in English.

Did you have problem using the GPS provided by Nissan? I have also pre-booked a Nissan car & not sure if the map display, which is in Japanese, will be a problem as we do not speak or read Japanese.
