Osaka to Kuwana Christmas Lighting 2013/7/7 00:36
Hi all,

I will be visiting Osaka during the end Dec Christmas period with my wife for honeymoon.

As this is my 1st time there in Osaka, is it easy for us to travel from Osaka (I should be staying in Namba) to Nabana no Sato and back?

I had try to study the Kintetsu line but I can't find any schedule on the page from Namba to Kuwana :(

And will visiting it on Christmas Eve risk us not getting back to Osaka due to no trains?

Thanks for any help!!

It is not very difficult. There are direct Kintetsu limited express that operate between Namba (Osaka-Namba Station) and Kuwana Station, from where there are buses to the illumination event.

You can look up the train connections by entering "Osaka-Namba" and "Kuwana" in the site below:
http://www.hyperdia.com/
(To exclude JR from the results, de-select the Japan Railways checkbox under "Search Details")

Here is a list of direct trains from Namba to Kuwana (according to the current timetable):

And in the opposite direction:

The direct trains require seat reservations and may be quite popular. So, I recommend to make seat reservations as early as possible.

It gets dark early in December, so that you should have no problems to see the illumination at a leisurely pace and still get back to Osaka. Even if the direct trains are booked out, you could use different Kintetsu trains or take JR shinkanen via Nagoya back to Osaka. Christmas Eve (December 24) happens to be a weekday so I don't think that the train situation will be extreme.

Hi Uji,

Thanks very much for your detailed response!

For the train reservation, normally how early can I reserve/purchase the Kintetsu ticket? :)

And just 1 more qns if you don't mind.

I will most probably be staying in this hotel:

However, seeing the Namba map, there seems to be like 2 ~ 3 Namba station (Hyperdia also have 2!)

Is Namba (Nankai) the one nearer to my hotel or is it Namba (Subway)?

Thanks very much!

From one month in advance. There is a nice online reservation site that allows for the issuance of e-tickets, however, it is in Japanese only and I think it requires an address in Japan:

If you take Kintetsu, you should head for the Osaka-Namba Station. There is an alternative, simplified map here:

Just follow the signs for "Kintetsu".

Thanks very much Uji-san! :)

Hopefully I won't get lost in Osaka as the railway systems seems like more complex than Tokyo's :P
