Hi, I'm planning to go to Ibusuki from Hakata on Jan 2014 with my mum on wheelchair. Most probably we will be getting the JR Pass. I wish to know if the limited express train ''Ibusuki no Tamatebako'' wheelchair friendly? Also, is Ibusuki Train Staion wheelchair accessible?

The train is wheelchair accessible with a wheelchair space provided in car 2, right next to the universal toilet. http://www.jrkyushu.co.jp/trains/ibusukinotamatebako/Even on its Japanese website, JR Kyushu unfortunately seems somewhat cagey about providing precise details of accessibility at the station, but Kagoshima Prefecture provides a site with amazingly detailed information for disabled users. http://www.pref.kagoshima.jp/suisui/10-ibusuki/031/According to this, there are no elevators or escalators, but there are wheelchair slopes linking the platforms, so it is nominally accessible.

Just a small mistake on my part... The wheelchair space (and toilet) is actually in Car 1 of that train.
