Shiretoko NP - Possible to rent binoculars?

I am in the early stages of planning a trip to Hokkaido next summer and am wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to rent binoculars to use for viewing wildlife on various day trips out of Utoro. It would be nice to have the use of a pair or two of decent field glasses, but we don't own any, don't need them where we live, and wouldn't want to carry such heavy, breakable items in our luggage anyway.
We would be traveling via public transit (rail, bus, excursion boat). Renting a car is NOT an option in our case, so we would need to pick up and return the field glasses at someplace easily accessible in Utoro or near the rail station in Shari.
