Kawagoe hours 2013/8/17 22:10
I'm thinking of visiting Kawagoe in mid Sept but can only leave Tokyo around 2pm. Is it worth visiting Kawagoe then? What time do the shops open till?

Kawagoe, a city of built like never inside of Tokyo.
I think cases where it might make sense is good.
Shop closes at 17:00 or 18:00 approximately.
Kashiya yokocho alley is 17:00.
I think you go by Red Arrow issue of the Seibu Line from Takadanobaba station or Seibu Shinjuku Station,'s shortest.
(14:00 units departure 14:30)

To go to the Kura(蔵)street, close to walk from Honkawagoe station.
About a 10-minute walk.

Unfortunately, no. That's just not enough time. Shops close extremely early, 4 or 5pm. I mean, sure. You can go and look at the buildings, which is one of the main reasons for going there. But part of the experience is the shopping and museums.(There are multiple houses you can enter. Highly recommended.) I would recommend going early morning and spending the day there. It's a fantastic place, and with enough time you can enjoy everything without worrying about shops closing. My wife and I have been there twice.
