Scenic spots in Niseko or Kutchan 2013/8/30 16:32
Any scenic spots we can go from Niseko or Kutchan by bus on weekdays ? Please tell me as I recognize not much bus traffic on weekdays when me and my wife will stay. Thanks from Angus Fong of Macau

Hmm, that's not a very good time to visit Niseko/Kutchan. If its for sightseeing then I would consider NOT going to Niseko.

Are you limited to public transportation or will you have a rental car?

I wrongly reserved room on weekdays and I have to rely on public transportation as we are budget travelers and can't afford to pay the high charge of taxi in Japan. Any beautiful place which I can travel by bus is ok for me. With suggestion or not, I feel happy that I am being care and considered.

In the region around Niseko, Shinsen-numa is a popular destination for autumn colour from early to mid Oct.

By public transport, there are only 2 daily buses to and from Niseko station.

Maybe check out some of the outdoor activities that are offered around the ski resorts? Many of the summer season things are closed by October, but you can always do some hiking. Here's the green season website for Hanazono which is the closest to Kutchan. You may have to utilize a taxi to get there, but its not too far from central Kutchan.

Indeed the bus from Niseko to Shisen-numa only runs on weekends and holidays. Sorry for missing out the part that you are there during weekdays.

There are guided tours for consideration, not on Oct 17 but available on Oct 18.

Any chance of using a rental car!? We drove around the region during mid Oct and fully enjoyed the countryside scenery whose beauty is only next to Biei, IMO. Besides Mt Yotei and Shisen-numa 2 more wonderful koyo sites nearby are ‘å“’À and the Niseko Panorama Line.

Thanks so much William5. I did read through that page about program detail but not so descriptive as I need. I got some questions in my heart. Can the instructor speak English ? 3 hours program including pick up from hotel or station as well we transit from/to the spot that means not much time left. I noticed that there are some other company providing the same tour but only 2.5 hours still no detail plan. BTW, the tour I can select is 13:30 to 16:30 and I have to leave for Hakodate on the same day, I wonder is it so popular and if there is 09:00 to 12:00, it is very perfect. Thanks again William5 for your help.

Your guess is as good as mine! We didn't go on any guided tour. The best thing is to contact the tour organizer for more detail and update information.

Hi William5, I did sent mail to the organizer but all in English (I get a response: your processing not completed) maybe in Japanese is much better and can go through. If you are a Japanese and willing to help me for this: I hope to ask the agent to squeeze two more persons on 18-Oct-2013 in the 09:00 session because I can only choose 13:30 session end at 16:30 when I have not enough time to leave for Hakodate. Please ignore my request if I am asking too much. Thanks all the way for your help.

Sorry Angus, I'm not Japanese and could not read nor write Japanese. Try seeking help from the Niseko Promotion Board whose email address is:
