Matsutomo Castle and Himeji Castle

From which city is it easier to access Matsumoto? is it tokyo or nagoya?

I have read on the internet that Himeji Castle is being renovated. Is still worth visiting? are there places in the castle that can be visited?

Matsumoto can be accessible from both Tokyo and Nagoya by direct JR LTD Express and direct highway bus.

If you are interested in the re-construction, Himeji might be worth it. Matsumoto is a nice alternative.
