Kumano Kodo: Kurisugawa bus layover 2013/9/27 15:45
Hi there,
Trying to plan our bus routes through the Kii Peninsula along the Nakahechi route.

Looks to be an hour layover (or more) in Kurisugawa - are there restaurants or a grocery store there? (or other things to do?)

I see there is a michi-no-eki roadside station at the next stop in Gyubadoji-guchi, and there seems to definitely be a grocery store/city at Chikatsuyu-oji. Just want to know where we can have a meal and maybe pick up some food to carry with us (other than Kii-tanabe), if we have a bus layover anyway.

Thanks.

Hi TA,

If the Kurisugawa bus stop is just at the western end of the big tunnel there, then there is the Kumano Kodo Kan, a pretty good museum. There is a store with snacky type stuff and drinks, but lunch may be scarce. There is the Takijiri oji and the trailhead to the Kodo. Also you can walk back along the highway and see the huge landslide from 2011. The construction there is pretty amazing. So you can easily kill an hour but I don't know if you can get lunch.
