Can I take the LTD EXP shinano from Nagoya to Nakatsugawa with the JR rail pass are must I pay extra?. Is it best to reserve a Seat? Thanks

It is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass. I always make seat reservations to avoid unpleasant surprises. I recommend it especially if you travel in a group and want to make sure to be able to sit together.
