Kokedera (Moss Temple) in Kyoto experiences? 2013/11/9 18:13
Was wondering if anyone has been to Kokedera (Moss Temple) in Kyoto, and if it stood out as a good place to visit?

I'm already doing the Arashiyama bamboo grove and monkey park for one day, then a ryokan for a day. Havent decided on which temple (or temples?) to see.

It is a very special temple and garden. And the sutra copying session is also memorable. However, the mandatory advance reservation system is rather inconvenient, which is the reason why it took me quite a few visits to Kyoto before I finally made it to Kokedera.

Yeah...perhaps I'll leave that for another trip, as this will be my first time to Japan, and I'm new to over seas travelling. It's probably best not to complicate things more than they already are!
