Arima Onsen without trying the public bath?

Hi, Im planning to go to Arima Onsen with my family this mid-Dec for a day-trip. My question is, is it worth going to Arima Onsen without trying out their public bath? its because my family members all refuse to try the bath since u'll have to go all naked. they're too shy to do that!! T_T so, will it be worth it for them to go there or just a waste of time? what else can we do other than the public bath?
thanks in advance :D

No, I don't think it is worth going if you don't intend to use the baths. There are a few small temples and shrines, but nothing that I would make a trip out of to see.

Arima Onsen is famous only because of the onsen. If you don't plan on going to the onsen, you should drop it from your itinerary and spend your time elsewhere.
It's kind of like going to a movie theater without seeing a movie. Sure you can sit/stand in the lobby and buy expensive concession food but it's not worth it if you don't see a movie...

You could visit Hikone to see an original castle and garden.
Otsu has Mount Hiei, Ishiyama-dera, and Miidera.
Nara is quite famous with Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Shrine, etc.
Mount Koya is nice and very popular.
Yoshino is also a nice place.
There are really a lot of possibilities. Kansai has a ton of options for travelers.
