Day trip tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go

Hello.
Does anyone know if there is a guided day tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go in May ?
A Japanese guided tour would also suffice.

No. Karuizawa is a small town whose population does not produce enough demand for travel tours to Shirakawago. Also, there is no easy way to travel between them. It will be very time-consuming to make a daytrip from Karuizawa to Shirakawago (unless you travel after spring 2015 when the shinkansen extension will make the trip consideably easier).

Either I join the guided tour (which seems quite expensive for 2 persons) or I go there on my own.

Assuming I catch the 8.45am bus from Kanazawa, should I take the 1.50pm or 4.50pm bus from Shirakawa-go back to Kanazawa ?
How many hours should I spend in Shirakawa-go for an enjoyable day ?

Also, does anyone know how frequent is the shuttle bus to Shiroyama viewpoint and back ?

OMG, i there last year, they say if you visit Kanazawa you might as well visit Shirakawa-go. i see your already doing that. i only visited Shirakawa-go which was lovely. i know there this anime show called Hyouka that baseoff a town called Hida Takayama which is near Shirakawa-go, maybe you should check out.

both town should ne near each other but when i was in Shirakawago i saw the poster for the anime Hyouka there.

went there this past november, took the 8:45 bus from Kanazawa and departed on the 14:00 bus to Takayama.

We explored one farmhouse, walked around most of the town enjoying the scenery, did a little shopping and had lunch. Alittle more time would have been nice as we did not get to go up to the lookout or visist the doboroku museum.
