As far as the 5th Station, halfway up the mountain. There are four 5th Stations on different sides of the mountain. Kawaguchiko 5th Station is most easily accessible by public transportation:

The other 5th Stations:

Hi Orit,

Contrary to popular belief, it is actually legal to climb Mt. Fuji throughout the whole year. Although once there is snow accumulated on the mountain, you will need to have more technical skills and winter climbing equipment if you are to attempt a climb to the summit.

For the past three years I have climbed Mt. Fuji in October as a guide with Fuji Mountain Guides. Although some years it will snow in September, many times Mt. Fuji is climbable without any technical skills till the end of October.

Please be aware that all mountain huts on the Yoshida trail are closed past the end of September and there will be no emergency evacuation services available in October. There is only one mountain hut (Taiyokan) at the 7th station, open till October 15th on the Subashiri trail.
