Travel ideas near Nagano with JR rail pass?

We are having a holiday in Hakuba in March and we're traveling from Tokyo to Nagano on a JR rail pass. From Nagano, what day trip do you recommend that we can use our passes for? We don't have any language skills but are very keen adventurous travelers.
We have already visited the snow monkeys, zenkoji temple and Ozawa onsen in a previous holiday.
