Inuyama Castle Renovation 2014/2/17 03:27
The Inuyama Castle website mentions "emergency repair" to the castle starting Nov 1, 2013 and a user posted a photo of the renovation (January 2014) on trip adviser. Japan Guide however does not mention this on its "Major renovations and constructions" page. I was thinking about visiting during first week or two of march but only if there is no scaffolding. Does anyone know when this renovation will be completed?? Thanks

The castle's website says you can enter the casle during the renovation period. It also says there may be times when admission is restricted.

So if you are lucky, you will have no problem enjoying the casle except viewing the appearance.

I was there earlier this month. It's hard to gauge how much longer the repairs will take - though judging from all the scaffolding that I saw, it may be a little while yet before it's done.

Still a great place to visit, although the repair work does spoil one's photos a bit. The Japan-Guide administrators might wish to consider adding a notice to the castle's entry about this, just to alert potential visitors. Here's the official source if they need to verify the info:

Update: according to a comment on JCastle, the scaffolding is due to come down on 14 March.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this info, but if true, a visit sometime after mid-March might work out fine.

We went there in November 2013; the scaffolding etc does impact on photos of the outside of the castle, but there was no restriction about entering it: we climbed up to the top, and loved it.
The combination entry ticket gave us entrance to the small museum devoted to the festival at Inuyama: well worth seeing.
And the garden at the base of the castle (quite a walk back: all uphill) was beautiful.
