Path to Kiyomizudera

Hi Guys!

Everytime I went to Kiyomizudera I walked up Gojozaka. I am wondering whether it is better to go along Matsubara Dori instead? Which is steeper? Does Matsubara Dori has shops like Gojozaka?

There are a handful of shops, but its mostly residential. However, I usually take it because its less crowded. Check it out on street view to get an idea of the feel:
