Using the JR pass to access Five Lakes area 2014/3/11 05:23
Hi there!

Four of us are planning to leave Kyoto around the 24th March using our JR pass and head to the five lakes area to stay a couple of nights. Which stations/tracks can we use with our JR passes to reach the Lake Kawaguchiko area. We then need to get out of the area and head to Tokyo. We are keen not to get the wrong trains or have to pay extra to use the transport having just paid for the JR passes as we are on a budget!

Thanks :)

Kyoto to Fuji Five Lakes:-

Fuji Five Lakes to Tokyo:-

It should be obvious from the above links what is best with a JR Pass but if it isn't clear:-
Kyoto - Mishima - Gotemba, then pay for bus to Kawaguchiko.

Pay for train Kawaguchiko to Otsuki Station then use JR Pass from Otsuki to Tokyo.

Enjoy your trip!
