Which is easier? going to or from Koyasan?

I plan to walk the 23.5km 'Koyasan Choishi Michi' trail, but I only plan to walk it once. Will walking to Koyasan be easier or out of Koyasan to Kudoyama Station be easier?

Koyasan is located at the top of a mountain so climbing down is usually easier. However, the pilgrimage route that you are walking leads TO Koyasan, so that may be a reason to consider walking up the mountain instead of down.
