How to get to Mt Fuji from Hakone 2014/3/17 14:19
Hello,

I will be staying in Hakone from the 22nd of September and wanted to climb Mt Fuji the next day on the 23rd of September. Can you please advise the best way to travel from Hakone to Mt Fuji.

Thanks,
Chris

It depends on what route you want to take up the mountain. The closest is the Gotemba 5th Station, but that trail is the longest and the bus access is very infrequent. The Subashiri trail is a little better. The Yoshida and Fujinomiya trails are the most frequented but also the furthest to access from Hakone. See these pages for more info:

Hi Chris,

From Hakone you will want to catch a bus for Gotenba train station. I would then suggest using the Subashiri trail, as this is the only trail with a mountain hut still operating on Mt. Fuji, located at the 7th station. During the off season there won't be any public transportation available on a weekday for going to the Subashiri 5th station, so you will need to take taxi (about \6,000 from Gotenba train station, to Subashiri 5th station).

All the best,
Luke
