Kyoto 1 Day Bus Pass 2014/4/1 21:46
Hi there, we are visiting Kyoto for 2 days and are planning to visit the following places :
Day 1
- arriving Kyoto Karasuma from Osaka with JR Rail Pass
- plan to take a bus from Shijo to Ginkakuji and visit the few places using this as a guide. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_eastern_kyoto_full.html
- at the end of the day, taking a bus back to Karasuma and returning to Osaka

Day 2
- Osaka to Kyoto Karasuma with JR Rail Pass
-do a half day in Northern Osaka (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_northern_kyoto_half.html)
- travel to South after lunch to visit Fushimi Inari Shrine.http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950_northern_kyoto_half.html
- returning to Osaka

Can you please advise the best transportation to take within Kyoto for the 2 days (note I;m holding a JR Rail Pass). Would a 1 day bus pass/ticket be suitable or ??

Appreciate your help. I was a little bit confused after reading the many threads on transportation in Kyoto.

Many thanks,
Tim

if you get on a bus more than 3, 1day ticket is most suitable!
and if you go to Fushimi Inari, you can use JR Rail Pass.
have a nice time in Kyoto

Many thanks Yuri for your information. May I know if the 1-day bus pass will cover the trip from Karasuma to bus stop at Ginkakuji. Looking forward to my trip to Kyoto.
Thanks again, Tim

Yes, if done by Kyoto City Bus.

Hi Tim,

arriving Kyoto Karasuma from Osaka with JR Rail Pass

Karasuma is a station of Hakyu line which is not covered by JR rail pass. There are many kinds of "JR passes" but if they covered Kyoto region, the gate is JR Kyoto station where you can catch almost all Kyoto city bus. Please see Arukumachikyoto website.

Most touristic places in Kyoto is not reachable by trains so that Hyperdia can not take you to the nearby station (it does not cover bus systems), therefore I DID NOT recommend using public transportation in Kyoto. But Arukumachikyoto, established last year, is very convenient to find how to go by bus in Kyoto so that I can recommend to use bus system in Kyoto now.
