Driving from Shiretoko to Sounkyo

Will be driving from Shiretoko to Sounkyo end Aug this year taking route 39.

Like to know which what are the interesting points that I can use to break the 4.5hrs drive.

Plan to leave Shiretoko around 9:30am...
