Around mid-May each year, traditional rice planting festivals are held throughout Asahikawa and its surrounding towns. Angood will stay in Asahikawa from 16 to 18-May-2014. Could anyone tell me can I possible meet this event and how can I possibly go there by public transportation means.

The festival that you wrote, was held in Higashikawa-cho Asahikawa suburbs in May 15 last year. It is what is referred to as Otaue Matsuri in Japanese, will be done in various ways in each region of Japan. That in Higashikawa-cho is a ritual to plant rice to an offering to god, which is enshrined in the Hokkaido Shrine. As far as the video, it seems not for tourists, as those ritual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bum9Ff77X_wThe information in this year's festival, I did not know.
