Hi All
I'm thinking of going to the Takayama Matsuri in October - is it possible/advisable to book accomodation in advance? How far in advance?
Any other Matsuri on in Oct worth attending?

For the autumn festival in Takayama it is indeed wise to book accommodation as early as possible. We booked 3 months in advance and yet could only secured 2 single rooms for my wife and myself.

Honestly it's going to be pretty hard even now so get in asap. We personally booked 3 months ago and most of the cheap but good hotels that are close to town were gone. Your best bet now would be to try minshuku and ryokan that don't advertise on booking sites if you can.
