Nishi Umeda access to Osaka Station City 2014/4/17 01:33
1. Nishi Umeda subway station is supposed to have an exit that directly links with Osaka Station City. But I can't find where exactly in Osaka Station City does it link to (north bldg? south bldg?) If anyone knows, please post it here.

2. Osaka Station City has an audio tour. Is this the type where you lug it around while walking on your own? Or is it accompanied by a physical tour (using a vehicle like a golf cart)? It is done in other countries with massive shopping complex but I have never heard it done here. Thought I would ask...

- Judging from the location, probably walking north from the Nishi-Umeda station would first get you into South Building. (I as a Japanese can and did get lost in the Osaka underground mall, I tell you...)

- They have both tours attended by a person (for 500 yen) and with the audio thing you listen to (500 yen, with a deposit of 3,000 yen), but languages choices (from Japanese, English, Chinese, or Korean) are mentioned only for the audio thingy version. I assume the tour with a person would be only in Japanese.

- Osaka Station City: Floor Guide
http://osakastationcity.com/common/pdf/floor_foreign.pdf
: On the map in Page 3, you find a sign for "Subway Yotsubashi Line" below Sakurabashi Gate of Osaka Station.

- Map of subway Nishi-Umeda Station (Y11)
http://www.kotsu.city.osaka.lg.jp/library/station-guide/Y/y11/pdf/stat...

Personally I have not tried this route, but I try to explain it.

From Nishi-Umeda Station (Y11) of subway Yotsubashi Line,
you can proceed to the platformfs north end (in the direction of your train),
go upward to the subway concourse, pass through North Gate (for exiting only)
and go up a staircase to Exit 3.
A ticket gate of Hanshin (Umeda Station) is to your right, and a pathway to JR (Osaka Station: Sakurabashi Gate) is in front of you.
Then you can proceed on the pathway to its end, turn right and go up the nearby staircase (#).
You see Sakurabashi Gate of Osaka Station on your left and the west corner of South Gate Building in front of you.

(#) According to a map offered by JR-West, here is a staircase. According to the Floor Guide of Osaka Station City, here are escalators.

The pathway to JR has sideways for Daimaru Department Store (Umeda-mise), so alternatively you can enter South Gate Building on the 1st basement.

I just came across these useful links that show detailed area map of Kita and Minami, including the underground mall area.
