Where to leave luggage when climbing Koyasan

Hello, I'm visiting Japan this summer and plan to hike the 20~km trail up Koyasan and spend a night there.
Obviously I don't want to hike with all my stuff, I could leave them at the Hotel in Kyoto but that would mean I'd have to pay for both the hotel and the temple night stay.
any idea?

Where are you staying before and after? Depending on the size of the station i.e. Osaka you could leave you luggage in a locker overnight at the station and just take a backpack with a change of clothes up to the mountain. Alternatively you could send your luggage to your next hotel via Ta-q-bin?
