mountain hut booking along Mt. Fuji

Am plan to climb mt. fuji summit on 18 July and have not book the mountain hut yet. Is it risky to only find the mountain hut on my way climbing to summit? If not, can assist to suggest a few? I am from Malaysia.
Beside this, is it a must to engage a guide to climb to summit or I can just follow others by using the route?

staying in a hut is entirety optional most people who climb overnight for the sunrise wont use them. I think most people who use them climb during the day then rest until just before sunrise. If you set off late in the evening you wouldn't need one.
Guides are not really needed either, during the climbing season there will be thousands of people climbing every day and the paths are clearly marked.
