Ohara return to central Kyoto

Hello,
Can you please let me know your personal preference on the ff transportation options going to Ohara:
1. by bus from kyoto station (longer travel time but less waiting time on weekends)
2. by subway first and then by bus (less travel time but longer waiting time for bus)

Which is easier? Which is more comfortable?

Do we take the same bus numbers for the return trip to Kyoto station, or to the subway station Kokusaikaikan?

I went by bus from Demachiyanagi station of Keihan train.
It is a 30-minute bus.

It is a 20-minute bus from the Kokusaikaikanmae station, service number seems low.
