Things to do in Ito 2014/4/19 14:01
Is it worthwhile t stay a few days in Ito. Can we use our Railpass to things in the area?
Your comment would be appreciated.

Ito is at the end of the JR line (at the upper right corner on the Izu Peninsula map above). So to go further south to enjoy the scenery, you need to pay for the train. I have been to Jogasaki Coast (walk along the coast), Kawazu (for the Feb - Mar. early blooming cherry blossoms), Seven Waterfalls (nice view and nice hike), Shimoda (old port with history, nice park along the coast with flowers), and Irozaki, as well.

Please look up those locations and see if you find them interesting. :) Also Ito is a good place for hot springs, of course.

As AK has mentioned, there is plenty to do in Ito. I have made a user report of Ito that can be viewed below:

To me, a nice but simple day outside of Ito includes Mt Omuro, Lake Ippiko and then walking the Jogasaki coast. This is a long day if you walk the whole coast along with a lot of walking, but it's really beautiful. You can use a bus pass which I think is around 1500 yen for the day from Ito Bus terminal). Kawazu and Shimoda are also nice day trips as well. Visiting the Ito Tourist Guide website is also helpful

Ito Goodwill Guides may also be helpful. I've never used them, but many smaller towns have free English quides which take you around the major sites if you book them in advance. Paying for their transport, tickets to anywhere you visit and possibly lunch is all it costs - but often they may also not accept lunch. The website is below:

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and I may be able to answer it

There is no Pass covering the entire area of Izu. I think each area you visit, that it is necessary to use both the Pass of several kinds.

In the information office of the Izu Tokai bus in the Ito Station, Ito Kanko Free Pass can buy. It is 1,300 yen, it is possible to ride Tokai Bus in Ito City.

Then, it is possible to purchase the Izu Dream Pass there. By the route that can be used, it is divided into two types. It is possible to ride the Izu Kyuko Line to Shimoda from Ito, and, the ferry and bus leading to Shimizu from Shimoda.

In order Minami-izu tourism to departure Shimoda, there is a means to purchase the Minami-Izu Free Pass, which at 2,790 yen, you can ride for two days in Tokai bus Minami-izu. You can buy it at Tokai bus information office of Shimoda Station.

At the station of the Odakyu line, Ito-kanko Freepass have been sold, but because it is only valid for two days, it is not suitable for your travel dates probably.
