A Kansai WIDE Area Pass (7200 yen per adult) and a Hokuriku Area Pass (4500 yen per adult, May 2014 - February 2015), which are both issued by JR-West, can be used together at once.
A foreign traveler who is eligible for these two JR-West passes can travel between Osaka / Shin-Osaka / Kyoto and Toyama in a non-reservation car of a Ltd. Express Thunderbird without paying additional fees.
A Kansai WIDE Area Pass can be directly purchased at a JR-West ticket office in a major station such as Kansai-airport, Tennoji, Osaka, Shin-Osaka and Kyoto.

(Now at present, a Hokuriku Area Pass cannot be directly purchased outside Hokuriku.)

these two JR-West passes (11700 yen per adult) can pay off in this Toyama trip only.
In a case where you head to Toyama later and cannot use a Kansai WIDE Area Pass for your trip from KIX to Osaka City, alternatively you can choose an ICOCA & Haruka package, which includes a ticket (1030 yen per adult) for this trip from KIX.

: A Ltd. Express Haruka makes a stop at Shin-Osaka but not at Osaka.
: A Kansai WIDE Area Pass / a Hokuriku Area Pass / a ticket in an ICOCA & Haruka package is designed for rides without seat reservation. When you utilize a seat of a Haruka / a Thunderbird which requires reservation, it does not cover the Ltd. Express charge but can only cover the basic fare.
