Sightseeing in Miyazaki

I wish to find out the train schedule from Kagoshima to Miyazaki. If I can only spend 1 day in Miyazaki, what are the places of interest you could recommend me to visit? Is there a tour us going round Miyazaki?

The most popular spot is Takachiho Gorge, but you cannot get there by train unfortunately.
