How to get from Kawaguchiko to Osaka

I am arriving in Nagoya at 8.45am July 5th and plan to go to Kawaguchiko that day. Then I plan to go to Kyoto on the 10th. What is the cheapest way to do both and which trains etc do I catch? I leave Japan on the 19th from Nagoya and don't know if it is worthwhile to get a JR pass?
