Is it possible to visit mount koyosan in a day? What are the attractions that not to be missed? Will it snow or very cold during mid Dec? Thank you

Is it possible to visit mount koyosan in a day?Yes, it can be easily visited in a day trip from Osaka or Kyoto; however, personally I think that the overnight stay at a temple is the top attraction which you will obviously miss if you visit in a daytrip. Temperatures can fall below freezing during the nights, but are probably above zero during the day.
